Paper Mill Island in Baldwinsville, NY is a popular venue for concerts and fireworks. The fireworks show on July 4th 2014 was looking grim with the sudden downpour of rain; but right before the show started the rain stopped. Thanks to the rain however, we were treated to an amazing golden red light during Sunset. Historic Lock 24 was a great location to capture these images.

But the best seats would be had nearby, next to the Red Mill Inn. We waited in anticipation for the fireworks to begin, and were treated to a beautiful sky after the rain let up.

Once the fireworks display started, we weren’t let down. The view was great, and the fireworks show was spectacular. For the best fireworks photos, I used a tripod, a wide angle lens, tungsten white balance, and a remote shutter release in bulb mode to time the fireworks and let the light in.

Once the fireworks were done, the smoke still lingered and offered a dramatic view of the Seneca River Bridge.
